Donald Lawson appointed Afrinvest Ag. Chairman
Lagos, 8th January 2018 –
Leading wealth advisory firm, Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited, has announced the appointment of Donald Lawson, seasoned economist and management expert, as Acting Chairman of its Board of Directors.
The appointment, according to a statement released by the firm, follows the decision of its erstwhile Chairman, Dr. Fidelis Nde-Che, to venture into active politics after over four years of diligent service on the Board.
“Mr. Donald Lawson takes over as Acting Chairman of the Afrinvest Board pending ratification at the Board at its next meeting later this month following which he will become the substantive Chairman”, noted Ike Chioke, Group Managing Director of the company.
Lawson, who sits on the Board of Financial Advisory and Investment Consultants Limited (FAIC), served as a Non-Executive Director at Afrinvest prior to the recent appointment. In his new role, he will lead the Afrinvest board in setting the company’s strategic goals and evaluating overall business performance.
A graduate of Economics from the University of Ibadan, Lawson acquired middle management skills from Lagos Sheraton Hotel (1985) and United Bank of Africa (1986 – 1990) and, subsequently, returned to his Alma Mater for a Masters degree programme in Business Administration (MBA).
He had a three-year stint with oil servicing company, Tecon Cosmocorp (1991 – 1993), where he managed a business development team that formed the nerve center of the company. In 1994, he was part of the team that started Water Resources Engineering and Management Ltd, becoming the Executive Director Finance & Administration – a position he held for over a decade.
