About this fund
The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Savings Bond is a bond being issued by the Debt Management Office on behalf of the FGN. The bond issuance is part of the Federal Government’s programme to encourage small savers and it helps them earn more income (interest) when compared to their savings accounts with banks. You can increase your income with dividend payments every 3 months on profits from the Fund.

FGN Savings Bond is a debt security (liability) of the FGN backed by the ‘full faith and credit’ of the Federal Government and no default risk, meaning that it is a safe investment where interest will be paid at regular intervals and principal repaid at maturity.

Afrinvest Securities Limited has been appointed as one of the agents designated through the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) to offer this product.

Everything you
need to know

FGN Savings Bonds are financial instruments issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria to borrow money from retail investors. When you purchase an FGN savings bond, the government is borrowing money from you to finance projects with a promise to pay it back with interest over a fixed period.

FGN Savings Bonds pay investors regular interest income (coupon payments) every three months. The bonds are fixed-income securities, meaning you will receive a set amount of interest on your investment periodically. For example, a 3-year FGN Savings Bond may pay you interest every three months for the next 3 years.

To purchase an FGN Savings Bond, you must complete and submit a subscription form through a licensed stockbroker. Ensure that your stockbroker is licensed to avoid investing with unregulated operators. Afrinvest is one of the accredited distribution agents for FGN Savings Bonds.

The minimum investment amount is ₦5,000, while the maximum amount you can invest is ₦50,000,000.00.

Interest is paid quarterly (every three months) directly into the investor’s bank account. The coupon (interest income) is tax-free.

Yes, you can sell your FGN Savings Bonds before maturity through the secondary market via the Nigerian Exchange Limited retail bond market. You must authorize your stockbroker to sell your bond.
